If this is your first character, you're ready to switch now and start playing the actual game.
If this isn't your first time, you might be interested in going for the LDoA title, but getting there can be long and difficult for new players.

As soon as you leave pre you will be able to buy new armor sets that have 15 or 30 armor (I think those are the correct numbers, but I haven't bought armor in ascalon for a year), but it costs some money and materials. You might want to try and get some of the materials or stock up some money before you leave, so you can get a very nice armor upgrade asap. About 1k of cash should be more then enough to fully pimp yourself with the best armor in ascalon and some good runes.

you can charr farm up until lvl 16, but it's a major pain in the rump to try to go past that.... it requires dying repeatedly to lvl up your enemy so that your enemy can give you exp when you kill it the next time. In other words it puts an entire new meaning to "grinding" and I don't recommend it. - - - Lvl 8 is plenty to go Post-Searing.

Level 8's about the right time to exit the area. If it's your first time playing the game, I'd recommend just playing it through by yourself and some friends without trading or resorting to wiki or guru too much (unless you're really stuck). That way you get to experience how great prophecies was.

quoted for truth, otherwise agree with what others have said, new(ish) to the game, is a good time to go on. only reason you really wouldn't want to go on is to get the LDoA title or have a perma pre-searing toon (which has no benefits, but people do like the area).

I just started my first toon in Proph, and was in your position yesterday. Had done all the quest and was lvl 8. After delving into wiki, there dosen't seemed to be alot more you can do unless you want to either farm charr or ale.
I decided to go post. Post explorable areas are not that difficult for a lvl 8, most foes range from 4-8 in the immediate explorable areas. You can get the gold for armour, which ranges from 25-40, in these areas if you haven't got it from pre.
Do not make my mistake and go straight for the skill trainer and buy skills. Most of the skills I bought I have now been offered as quest rewards, so its a little different to Factions/NF/EToN.
Aside from that its you decision, but IMO after you have done all the quests in pre there's not really much else to do that compares to the fun lvl of post.

I think for new players, that as long as you have all the skills you can get in pre, lvl 5 is a good time to switch to post. If you go before then, new players can sometimes have trouble with the first few missions and get discouraged. You are definitely ready for post.

IMO lvl 8 is perfect for your first time through. I wouldn't recommend going past 10 at all, because I can see the game just becoming easy after that and it'd get boring for ages until it catches up to you (not to mention it'd be boring).
Just make sure you do lots of quests, look around; basically try to experience as much of Prophecies as you can.

I made a Pre farmer, and IMO it just wasnt worth it even for the dyes. Getting to lvl 20 there is just a joke and has to be the most pointless thing you can do in the game.
Move on to post, never look back, and enjoy the rest of the game.

lol I have a Mo/w In pre because i thought it would be good enough to farm... should be once it gets to lv16... but i dont see how charr farming is worth that much time compared to after searing farms.
